I got this urn for myself for the future so my family has for me what I want. I got the Sky Blue and it is beautiful!! The engraving is in white, my military service information is under my name, and a cat paw print in place of the military emblem. Sentiments to my family are on either side of paw and below. I was brought up to plan for the future. The urn is a BEAUTIFUL piece of work. Too bad someday it will be underground. Very pleased!

The urn that held the cremains at the funeral service had been selected at the funeral home. It was an elegant wooden vase-like urn. That chestnut urn could not be buried in the cemetery without a vault. . The McKenzie urn was the solution. It is constructed to resist decay and collapse. The cemetery would accept it for direct burial in the plot. A "sealed urn" is what they required. The McKenzie Classic meets the requirements. . It is constructed of material that can be engraved with the decedent's name, dates, even picture if desired. You can choose from a wide array of colors. The McKenzie Classic has a pleasing shape: an improvement on a rectangular box by its rounded edges and well-done top. . Before this one goes into the ground, it can be set without fear of scratching on any fine furniture. It comes with a felt bottom. The opening for accepting the ashes is in the bottom. The urn will balance safely upside-down because the top has a nice flat region. . The interior is accessed by a recessed screwed-in closure. Be sure to order the right size to accommodate the cremains: each pound of body weight will equate to one cubic centimeter of ash. . The McKenzie Classic is a beautiful and functional receptacle for the sacred remains of a loved one. It could find a place in a home, a cemetery vault or lot with no problem.

Mainely Urns produced an absolutely beautiful urn for my wife's ashes. Because her middle name was Rose I ordered a cultured marble urn in rose color. Because she was an angel in my eyes I ordered an engraving of an angel on the urn. The ashes capacity of the urn is very important. I ordered a size 210 because it has the capacity to hold all of the ashes of an average sized or somewhat bigger adult. The 50 and 100 sizes are far too small. The dimensions are extremely important; you must be sure the urn will fit into the niche. Our urn was 9 3/4 wide, 6 1/4 high, and 6 5/8 deep. The width is where the engraving takes place and faces the front of the niche. The cemetery told me the niche is 10 wide, 10 high, and 9 1/2 deep. The 10 width would allow only 1/8 on each side. I had the cemetery open the niche and measure it. It turned out the width was actually more than 11 wide, so there was plenty of room.

The last thing you need is more stress when losing a family member, even when it's a four legged one. Everyone did a great job with the quality and engraving of the ceramic urn. Everything from the engraving proof to the shipping was expedited. We were able to properly lay to rest our beloved dog before Christmas and it gave us a little more peace during a very difficult time.

I had never bought an urn but needed one that I could take on a plane next year. The team at Mainely Urns answered all my questions and guided me through the process. They do not answer the phone but they will absolutely call you back, so leave a message. Email communication is also excellent. The urn was shipped directly to a funeral home to save time and arrived as promised. Because of the pandemic, I was not able to be at the service, but Paige at Mainely sent me photos and kept me in the loop.
